Home at last
Published by Deanna Hoak September 27th, 2004 in blogI got back to Merritt Island this morning, and we were fairly lucky with damage. We lost more trees
and our fence is shot
But the inside of the house is again unscathed. There was a big piece of shingle in the pool, but it doesn’t seem to have come from my house….
I was supposed to go to Balloon Fiesta tomorrow for a friend’s birthday, but I canceled my reservations. I just want to be home! I even want to clean! I feel an almost desperate need to put down some roots for a bit.

Yay for standing-house goodness!
Yeesh! Girl, you got some cleaning to do. I’m glad to see that you survived another one. I sure as hell hope this is the last.
You can always rebuild a fence or plant a new tree. But your memories in the home are intact.
I’m so happy for you: May your roots continue to grow there.
Wendy
I know! I feel so damned *battered* by now.
I keep clicking on http://www.weather.gov today because I’m so paranoid of another one forming! This year is just too much, and I’ve become gun-shy.
Too true. I know that Owl Goingback, a fellow SFWA member, lost his entire roof. I feel lucky, despite the stress.
