Not exactly…

Judging by the 1,800 pages of author- and editor-requested copyedits I have sitting on my desk, I really suck at this whole notion of “hiatus.”

Congrats on all the work - more work=more money, woot!

Deanna, can you throw some tips my way? I am trying to edit my manuscript and I am reading right over the errors. Especially with the missing words - my brain just fills in the blank and I don’t see it. Like this “She glared at me with a kind stubborn defiance.” Is there any kind of trick I can do to find this stuff, or am I doomed to failure?

Everyone’s eyes do that trick–and it’s worse when it’s your own writing, because your brain knows exactly what you intended to be there. :-)

When I edit, I actually put my pencil on every single word. You can’t move the pencil along in a line and expect it to work; you actually have to “dot” each word as you go.
