The last time I talked to people about Mensa, it was back in Orange County, and I found myself leaving early and getting drunk.
But then, I did that a lot back then.
I don’t belong to Mensa or organizations in general but I did just read a fascinating book on the subject of adult women’s friendships called “The Friendship Crisis: Finding, making and keeping friends when you’re not a kid anymore” by Marla Paul of the Chicago Tribune. She has written a column on friendship for them for a while now, and also wrote for “Ladies Home Journal” and “Health” magazine. At times I found it a little heavy on the victimization speak, but there were some neat ideas in the book about how to get going in a new community or in the neighborhood. I also really enjoyed the chapter on the secret of friendships with people who are a generation or more older. I’ve no idea if you’d be interested in something like that detailed, but thought I’d pass it along.
Thank you, Fiona. I’ll definitely check it out!
