I can’t believe you, of all people, let the “eyes passing over” bit go by without comment! The image it conjures up for me is… rather slimy.

Damn editors. ;-) It doesn’t bother me too much, truthfully, but it is unnecessary text. I’ll remove it in deference to you. :-)

*laugh* No need… I’ve got this to soothe my tortured soul. *)

Well, I can say that the line “Her face exploded with joy” in my Atlanta Nights chapter? I’ve actually edited that one out of a book before. Multiple times.

    Oh dear.

I really wish you’d had a crack at my current review book. (I do you the kindness of assuming from the porphyry of its prose that you did not.) I think the author is getting paid by the italic.

I can speak Texan if y’all want me to.”

There’s lots more, but they all make me blush.

I remember we discussed the college radio station at North Texas State NOT changing it’s call letters after it became the University of North Texas.

I remember the time i left you my very first comment (this being the 2nd) and you responded gleefully (well, I thought so).

    Ah, good times.

I remember your smile as you said you’d been up since four thirty in the morning. :)

The sushi place in San Jose where we had to wait 3 hours for food and you were pregnant and starving, so finally we got them to bring us edame. I’d never had them before and ended up craving them later when I was pregnant with Ethan :-).

Your kindness, understanding and advice via chat when I was having trouble with my munchkin’s odd behavior at one specific place.

I remember the first time I saw you. I didn’t think it was you. I thought, “Can’t be. She’s too pretty and too cool to be a Mensan!”

I remember what I think was the first time I ever met you–introduced by Steve Saffel at one of those Tor Worldcon parties where there’s barely enough oxygen to keep the mob conscious. You were looking really, really beautiful in a really, really great dress, and you were really, really MAD because a certain well-known SF personality who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty had made a quite excessively rude comment while leering at the dress. We agreed he needed to be smacked.

  15. 15 deannahoak

Yeah, I don’t quite think it was my dress he was looking at, but I remember that well. :-) I was stunned that he actually said it in front of other people! I really appreciated you coming up to me afterward and expressing your horror. :-)

Point him out next time. I’ll beat him to a pulp for ya. :-)

I remember meeting you in a restaurant parking lot in–was it Dayton, OH or Richmond, IN? We were both going to meet our fellow Midwestern OWW-ers for lunch and writing geekliness. You had your daughter with you and she stole the show.

Hmm. I think Larry thought we were married because we walked in together. Which comes when a group of people who have only ‘talked’ online, first meet face to face.

I remember that after meeting you I was able to add to my love of your writing, a love of your personality.

I remember this one time when you, me, Tootie, and Blair went to a party with boys from the military academy. Remember when Natalie got drunk and we had to sneak her back into the house without Mrs. Garrett seeing us?
We were so happy then …

Little brother, you are so strange….
