Busy busy busy busy busy
Published by Deanna Hoak December 7th, 2005 in blogAnd I don’t really have time to think up an interesting post. I miss everyone, though!
So tell me something–any little thing–that’s made you smile lately. I’d love to hear it. :-)

My Xmas decorations. They are pretty and shiny (and pictured in my journal).
My family! :) Does that count? :-)

I have news for you:
The stag bells, winter snows, summer has gone
Wind high and cold, the sun low, short its course
The sea running high.
Deep red the bracken; its shape is lost;
The wild goose has raised its accustomed cry,
cold has seized the birds’ wings;
season of ice, this is my news.

Today my four year old stopped by my office to drop off some stuff I had forgotten. Since it was 0 degrees (before the wind chill) she was extremely well bundled up and watching her run to get inside was a wonderful way to break up the morning at work.
My dog’s excitement when we got our first real snow of the season.
I didn’t get hit by a car today.
Yet.
Watching you and Bill at the party. Y’all are great together!
I’m drinking hot tea and reading poetry by an old friend of mine (Todd Heldt).
And this morning, my doctor told me the lump on my wrist is nothing serious, and it can be easily removed later this month.
It’s been a good day all around.
My hubby made us lox-and-creamcheese bagels this morning, and I don’t need to have any fillings replaced! *happy dance*
Jagger lying down while the little 8-week-old Pomeranian climbed into the hollow of his back leg and lay down. It didn’t last long—the Pom decided to go to his kennel instead—but it was terribly cute.
Bluebirds have migrated into our area with a bunch of yellow-rumped warblers. The bluebirds are improbably blue and huge. They make the whitecrowned sparrows look small. There’s a phoebe that’s taken up residency and does the lovliest little circular flutters to grab bugs. We’re down to two hummingbirds and, even with two feeders, they spend their day chasing each other. We’ve got ravens, sharpshin hawks and coopers hawks to keep all the little birds nervous and white kites that insist on landing at the very top of little fir trees to bend them over.
Just a little while ago, coming home from shopping and being greeted by the two ladies of the house.
I’m in a removable cast at the moment. My mother sent me socks with kitties on the toes, so I have something nice to look at when I look down at my cast.
My kitten has lost two teeth that I was lucky enough to find! My vet said kitten teeth are too small to notice and that usually they swallow them, but I found a three-pointer and a fang (well, I noticed the fang was loose and practically pulled it out of his mouth, but the 3-pointer legitimately dropped out of his mouth onto my shoulder while he was hovering over me on the back of the comfy chair). I don’t know why, but I like that I get to keep some of his baby teeth, like my mom kept mine. But I don’t put a quarter under his pillow. ;-)
I finally got a stress free 5th period.
Course, I had to threaten them within in an inch of their lives . . . . (Not really, just let them know the fun & games were over and even one little problem with them would get them a referral and sent to the Administrator. For the first time ever, you could’ve heard a pin drop. On carpet.)
I’m going out for a hibachi dinner on my birthday. :)
I actually got my security deposit back from my ex-landlord. A Christmas miracle.
Maybe he’d appreciate some catnip. :)
I recently upgraded to a cell phone that supports Ring ID. And I set my husband’s numbers to have a tune that seemed appropriate for him. (My usual ring is just a normal telephone ring.) So, this morning I had left my cell phone upstairs and from downstairs I heard this jazzy tune. I was happy, and thought, “ooh, ooh, that’s my husband!” as I ran upstairs.
I forgot my other good news: today I won tickets to the Toronto premiere of Mrs Henderson Presents, which looks like a really fun movie.
I went to see a-ha in concert on Tuesday! *dances* :)
And then it’s back to finishing my rassin’ frassin’ REH biography.
I got two: tonight my lady and I celebrated our seven-month anniversary (and yes, we are just silly enough to celebrate seven-month anniversaries…)
Also, I got a promotion last week with a substantial raise — I am now in charge of the robotics, simulation, and virtual reality labs at Johnson Space Center. Whoo-hoo!
Rediscovering that a fresh start doesn’t have to wait for the New Year to begin.
They are beautiful!
Family always counts. :)
It made me smile, too. Thank you. :)
Aren’t they cute like that, when they’re padded like a polar bear? I never see my kids like that in Florida now. :)
I bet he ran around in circles biting at it, hyper with the cold. :-) I’ve seen mine do it so many times…:-)
Man, I wish I had that gift for finding smiles in the everyday beneficence of the universe. You’re lucky. ;-)
Heh. People always say that. :)
That does sound like a good day. Congrats on the good news.
Yum! And yay!
Aww! It sounds adorable. :)
Oh, how lovely. I need to learn to identify all the water birds we have here, as I’m not used enough to them to know their names.
They are so cute! Nice you could get them to pose. :-)
Oh, sorry about the cast. But what a sweet mom!
Baby teeth! Adorable. :)
Stress free is always worth a smile. :)
Happy Birthday!! I hope it was wonderful!
All right! Nice for the holidays. :)
What a lovely everyday smile as a testament to affection. :)
:-) I hope it was a blast.
I’ve heard good things about the radio play! Congrats!
Both very nice. :-)
That is a wonderful feeling. :-)
Oh, yes! And I got some crackin’ photographs, too! :)
Thanks! It was fun.
Must be because it’s true! *grin*
