I just finished up the final read of my copyedit for the U.S. version of ‘s book The Lies of Locke Lamora.
This is a fantastic book, folks. I got so damned worried about one of his characters at one point that I had to quit working for an hour because I just couldn’t bear to look. I don’t recall that ever happening to me before. :-)
So, anyway, now I go through and deal with my multitudinous flags (I organize and correlate them with each other and verify if all the little facts I’d flagged because I was uncertain if there’d been contrary information earlier actually were different earlier, for instance); then I decide which ones to bother him with, type them up, make all the final touches to the style sheet and design memo, and with good luck and hard work get the whole thing off to Bantam a day earlier than they requested.
Then I’ll take a break till after Christmas, at which point I have Chris Roberson’s new novel to start copyediting.
I’m a lucky girl. :-)
Waaah! I wanna read Locke Lamora now! I don’t wanna wait! Waaah!
I’m with you. Cannot wait.
Hey, awesome! I didn’t know you’d be doing Paragaea (well, I’d *hoped*, but one can never be sure). I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of it.
– Chris Roberson
Yay for the break and yay for all your hard work! Good for you. I’ll have to read this one; I’ve come to take your recommendations to heart!
Merry Christmas!
Boy, your job really sucks. *grin*
I know…Poor, poor me, having to be one of the *first* to read all these great books, before all you other fortunate souls!
Hah! :-D
