Netsol.com is more expensive than some you’ll find, but I trust them. Many cheap domain registrars *own* your domain when you register with them. With Netsol, *you* own your own domain. I register all of my domains, and all of my web design clients’ domains through them.
Hm…I don’t see them on this list, though: http://www.icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html
Depends on the domain; what are you after? Be sure to watch out for “unseen” fees (e.g. charging to move/transfer a domain, and so on).
(I work in Internet services, and we offer domain names as well as Web hosting.)
It’s a .com I want. I just want to register the name.
Oh, I see. It’s Network Solutions….They’re on the list.
Netsol.com is Network Solutions.
In which case you can buy it through any company who uses any of the companies on ICANN’s list of Accredited Registrars. We use Tucows for all our TLD (top level domain, e.g. .com) orders/management.
If you’re just looking to reserve the name, I’d go with someone who doesn’t charge the earth for one, and offers free parking of said domain. Good luck — and if you want any more advice, just holla. :)
I was just looking at Tucows! At their site, though, it connects to directdomain.com, which isn’t on that list….Is that okay, you think?
I’ve used GoDaddy for several years now and have always been quite pleased with them.
*moves conversation onto AIM* :)
We use GoDaddy, too. Totally been hassle free.
I highly recommend joker.com (and strongly dislike Network Solutions, but I know people who are happy with them; so, as you please).
godaddy.com
$8.95/year (if paying one year at a time), complete control, and never any problems at all. I won’t register with anyone else.
And I need to add, Network Solutions is TOO expensive. I started off with them years ago and it was a hastle to do just about anything. I owned the domain names, but it seemed like they made that ownership a hastle. Even transferring to godaddy took forever.
With godaddy, everything is quick and clean. No isssues, ever.
Ah. Based on the comments I’ve gotten, I’ll probably try godaddy in the future. I went ahead and went with domaindirect, through Tucows, though. I’ll see how they are.
I would like to third the recommendation to use godaddy. We had our domain with Network Solutions and it was painful to deal with the renwal/transfer process. _Very Painful_. Godaddy has been very simple and painless so far.
