Hi, everyone! We’ve just returned from Pennsylvania, where we went to help my mother-in-law (who is the sweetest person I’ve ever met–I’m really lucky to have her in my life) celebrate her 80th birthday.
So if I haven’t been around much…it’s because I haven’t been around. :-)
The kids had a great time visiting family, but they’re glad to be home–particularly Evan, who inherited his parents’ homebody nature. Traveling is tough on a three-year-old! On the flight home, he kept asking me about all the stuff at our house, like he was afraid it might have disappeared while he was gone: I’ll see my Cecil? And my toys? And my sippy cups? And my bed?
I’m going to let the poor kid stay home and recuperate today. :-)
I have three manuscripts on my desk right now: two basic copyedits and one heavy line edit. They have nicely staggered deadlines, so I don’t have to rush. Still…busy busy. :-)
I hope you’re all doing great!

I'm a freelance copyeditor specializing in fantasy and science fiction. SF/F novels I have copyedited have been finalists for (and have sometimes won) the Hugo, Nebula, Arthur C. Clarke, Endeavour, Golden Spur, John W. Campbell Memorial, Quill, Locus, Philip K. Dick, British Science Fiction, British Fantasy, and World Fantasy awards. In 2007 I became the first and only copyeditor ever short-listed for a World Fantasy Award.

Glad you’re home and well. I know I’m still recuperating from travel, even though I didn’t want to come back! See you soon, I hope!
When my mother lived in Florida, we switched from flying to driving after the last few years. It was easier on the kids because they could bring more of their stuff with them. We got a van with a TV and they could watch their favorite movies. Although it theoretically took longer, we had been having bad delays traveling with them around the holidays, so the actual time wasn’t much worse.
Welcome back.
Sigh…I wish one of those ms was mine. (Of course, maybe you wouldn’t!)
But they said the deadline was too tight, however, asked for your contact data. Hurray!
Aw. It’s a pity I don’t get to CE one of yours yet; I would have enjoyed it. Maybe next time, though!
Good to have you back…and that reminds me, I gotta get back to this vast tome (a mess of a bio).
