Simple genius
Published by Deanna Hoak June 22nd, 2006 in blogApple has amazing marketing people. That video with the two guys in boxes? First time I think I have ever deliberately clicked on an ad to watch it. And when it gave me the option to watch the other ads, too? I did.
It reminds me of that video someone on my f’list linked a while back, that showed how IBM might have marketed the iPod. (Anyone have that link? I couldn’t find it with a few minutes of Googling.) It’s amazing how much more effective simplicity can be.
ETA: Folks have kindly given me the link. No wonder I couldn’t find it. :-) Microsoft Designs the iPod package.

It wasn’t IBM — it was Microsoft. And the video actually originated FROM Microsoft! You can see it at:

BTW, the guy who plays the PC in those awesome Apple commercials is my old college roommate, John Hodgman, a great writer in his own right.
