Alas

I got a rejection today on that erotic and disturbing SF story that had made it to the final pool of the Horrors Beyond II antho. The editor was kind enough to include a note, though, that read, “Deanna, your story stood its ground with an astounding number of works — and it held [...]

Handy Keyboard Remapper

Every time I edit something on the computer, I end up putting myself in a bad ergonomic position (or slowing myself unnecessarily) because I mouse with my right hand–following the words with the cursor to be sure they’re all there and looking the way they’re supposed to–but then have to reach way over with my [...]

Heh

So Blaine had her graduation from Space Camp today. She got to come up to the stage first and get a special pin because she was on a team of second- and third-graders who built a “moon-crawler” that traveled the farthest distance of any built in the camp–even farther than those built by the much [...]

I have my daughter signed up for this really cool camp at the Kennedy Space Center. The kids get to ride in motion-based simulators, work on designing space vehicles, talk to an astronaut, perform a space shuttle mission simulation, and all kinds of other fascinating stuff. Blaine, of course, is thrilled with it.
But when I [...]

Paul Witcover sent me this pic of the two of us:

Ern Lilley of SFRevu sent me all these others.

Here I [...]

Known Blog Issues

The LiveJournal tags, unfortunately, did not survive the journey. :-( Should you come across a blank spot where a name should be, it’s undoubtedly because I had an LJ friend linked there. Please feel free to let me know of those when you come across them; the [...]

WorldCon

Okay. I’m going to go. Drop me a line if you’ll be there, and we’ll try to get together.

I’m still kicking around the idea of going to WorldCon, even though it’s coming up so soon and I won’t be people-starved yet. :-)
For anyone else looking, I checked on taxi fares from LAX to the con hotel and from John Wayne Airport to there: From LAX it’s $80-90, and from John Wayne it’s $30-35. [...]

Sorry, I know you guys like copyediting stuff, but I’m too busy copyediting to come up with interesting copyediting stuff at the moment.
I’m too busy to cook much for my poor kiddos, either; thus I have this…recipe, kind of. :-) (My daughter insists that it’s a recipe and that everyone in the world would want [...]

Then go see this copyediting moment of the day.
:-D
