Update
Published by Deanna Hoak October 28th, 2006 in blogYes, I know I haven’t posted in a bit. I’m fine. I’m taking a break, relaxing, unwinding, spending time with the kids. It’s important for me to realize when I need that and to take care of myself. Partly this has involved letting myself play WoW after a year’s absence. :-D (You guys know what a geek-girl I am anyway; I’m not even going to apologize.)
And woo-hoo! We got my daughter’s druid up to cat form today! :-)
Can I just say, though, that taking a one-year break from an online game isn’t really a great idea? Holy shit but the economy on Uldum has changed. It was a pretty new server when I signed on, but now it’s got loads of people with multiple level 60s. Everything is so freaking expensive it’s unreal! I used to make a lot of money buying stuff cheap in the auction house and then reselling. No more. Everything’s high high high. All the higher levels can afford the best for the new characters they’re bringing up, and it makes a big difference.
Anyway, that’s where I am. :-) I have loads of posting ideas once I’m off break, and I’ll see some of you at WFC! I hadn’t made up my mind about the banquet until today (last year’s food was quite literally, absolutely, the worst food I’ve ever had anywhere), but I finally bought a ticket. I don’t think my dress is as striking as what I wore last year (Jess and Mark issued “Wow!” and “Hubba with a side of Hubba!” which made me smile), but it’ll do.

You know, there’s been a lot of discussion in my guild lately about differing prices due to server age. I’m on a server that’s less than 6 months old and you can already see some prices starting to tick up. I use the buy low sell high strategy most of the time myself. However, I just started an enchanter, and am making a huge amount of cash just by buying things that are relatively inexpensive (crap greens) and disenchanting them to sell the components. *dorklove*
Yeah, I’ve completely thought about starting an enchanter for that very reason–it looks like the only way left to really make money. Enchanting and tailoring, I think. I’m herbalism/alchemy, and the herbs are worth more money than the potions you make with them.
Yeah, my priest alt is an enchater/herbalist, simply because I wanted to keep a gathering prof for cash and my guild needs more enchanters for actual enchanting abilities.
I think it depends on how much you feel like farming cloth, and what the prices are for low lvl crap greens on your server. Like I said, mine is fairly new, so I can’t really comment to that. On mine, I generally pick up green armor lvl 1-20 that’s 5s or under, lvl 21-30 that’s 15s or under, green weapons lvl 1-20 that are 10s or under and lvl 21-30 that are 35-30s or under. Then I disenchant the lot, use some of the mats to gain a few points in enchanting, then sell the rest. Since there’s no deposit, there’s absolutely no cost to me in waiting until people pay what I want. I generally pull in 5g a day which isn’t bad for a lvl 20 priest. I obviously need to find something new to do once I need larger quantities of cash, but I also have my auction alt which I use for larger profits these days. That gives me a nice balance of cash flowing in on weekends (auctions) and daily (enchanting) that keeps all of my characters comfortable.
My son loves Wow. He rolls a lvl 60 female lock on the Dalvengyr server. I love watching him play, and I’m thinking seriously about playing myself. Alas, for that I need a new pc, especially since the minimum req’s for Burning Crusade are 1GB RAM and at least one GeForce 7800 GT video card…
Try skinning. And farming for things you can disenchant and sell.
Are you more PvE, or PvP?
Deanna, I saw this and had to leave it here!
