An enjoyable Thanksgiving
Published by Deanna Hoak November 25th, 2007 in blogI had a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope everyone else did too! Bill’s family (mom, niece, sis and her fiancé) came down for the feast and to enjoy the gorgeous Florida weather. I made mashed potatoes, creamed peas, brandied cranberries, homemade bread, coleslaw, sage dressing, candied sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, and pecan pie. Bill fried two delicious turkeys (it makes cooking so much easier when the turkey’s not taking up the oven), and we all stuffed ourselves. The in-laws all left this morning with nice steak-and-mushroom omelets to fill their bellies for breakfast and some big turkey sandwiches for the plane, as I can’t stand the thought of anyone going hungry.
We took them out to the Lone Cabbage yesterday, for an airboat ride and to see the wildlife (lots of gators out), and ate there afterward so they could try some gator. While those so inclined went shopping last night, I set up the Christmas tree, so the house looks festive.
It was a wonderful holiday and visit, even though I’m now ready to do nothing for a few days. :-) I hope yours was as nice!
