I gather that you live in Florida, Deanna? Doesn't the constant high humidity bother you? I've lived in the Midwest, and I hated that.

I now live in Portland (the one on the left coast), and it has rained almost constantly for the last couple of months (must be a La Nina winter). Winter temps are mostly in the low 40s around here, though it does freeze, and the cold and wet get old. At least it rarely feels hot and humid hereabouts. But right now, I envy you.

My family is from Michigan. My grandparents live in Florida. Before I was born my mom moved down to Florida to live closer to them. She said that the first winter was fine and she just had to wear a light jacket (as 50-60 degree weather is like Spring or Fall up here) and the next year she had to wear a big bulky coat because she had gotten so used to the hot climate that the cool/warm temperatures were freezing to her.

It was around 15 degrees up here a few evenings ago. It's pretty sad because I have to wear hearing aids and they're affected by the cold, they shut down or start making strange noises. I can't even wear a hat or anything though because then my hearing aids will squeel from the contact. I wish I lived in a warmer climate. You are very lucky! Chang out of that tank top and put on a t-shirt and you'll be fine! ;)

It's 19 here and we had a blizzard Sunday. No sympathy from up here. You need a warm coat and hot tea. You don't get to snowboard if you can't take the cold :)

...it's been maybe as high as 23F today. In the garage. *cry*

(Though my pet hobby horse is hypothyroidism, of which cold-sensitivity can be a symptom, and thus I anxiously (because it sucks when not diagnosed and treated) hope that it's not actually a factor for you. And I shut up 'bout it now, before I degenerate into lolcatness.)

"L.A. Story" (1991)

Anchor: And what a surprise this weekend when the weather turned unseasonably low. Here's Harris Telemacher, our "wacky weatherman" with a report.

Harris: And when the weather dropped down to 58 degrees this weekend... how did you cope?

Homeowner: I went to made sure all the windows were shut.

Harris: And, what about your pets? Were they outside? What happened?

Homeowner: Well, the cats were out till around ten. But it got a little too cold for them and they came in.

Harris: The cats were out till around ten. But it got a little too cold for them and they came in! Well, that's how L.A. coped with that surprise low of 58 degrees that turned the weekend into a real weenie shrinker!

The high is 21 degrees today and I shoveled two feet of snow yesterday from around my girlfriend's car. I love winter. I couldn't tolerate not having all four seasons!
