RIP, Robert
Published by Deanna Hoak February 23rd, 2008 in blogI read with massive shock and sadness on Making Light today that Robert Legault has passed away of a massive coronary. I loved talking copyediting with Robert, and some of the best, most interesting, and most useful comments on any of my copyediting posts always came from him. We’d talked on the phone on several occasions, just chatting about life and the industry, and he was among those who celebrated my 40th with me at Readercon, which is where the pic below is from.

It’s frustrating, as someone who makes a living off of words, when you don’t know what to say, but I don’t. I’m sad he’s gone.

I'm a freelance copyeditor specializing in fantasy and science fiction. SF/F novels I have copyedited have been finalists for (and have sometimes won) the Hugo, Nebula, Arthur C. Clarke, Golden Spur, John W. Campbell Memorial, Quill, Locus, Philip K. Dick, British Science Fiction, British Fantasy, and World Fantasy awards. In 2007 I was short-listed for a World Fantasy Award for my copyediting.

A fine picture. The hair is grayer, but the smile is much as I remember.
:(
I’m very sorry for your loss, Deanna.
