I’m always amazed when I see something like this. The person who did it must think about things in a totally different way than I do. Of course my way of thinking about the world is the only correct wayn isn’t it?

I think the person who did that is a designer. Only designers do crazy organizing of belongings by color.
(When did I link to that? I don’t even remember)
A lot of reference books are black; and I own several shelves full of non-glossy old-fashioned cloth bindings. Not to mention the masses of mostly white paperbacks…
Actually, i think to make _that_ work you not only need a superior database, but one of these” hidden away.
Ooh! I think I might just try this. My books aren’t in any particular order anyway; I find them by scanning for the right spine color.
I worked in clothing for a long time, where you ‘colorize’ things. We had a very specific order for colors. And yes, I have often looked at my bookshelves and considered it…ony it would make my alphabet-loving husband crazy.
I have to comment on this because I can’t believe that I didn’t think of this. The clashing colors of the books on my shelves hurt my eyes, which is one of the reasons I keep my office so dim. This is brilliant.
“The Book on the Bookshelf” by Henry Petroski has an appendix which discusses various ways that bibliophiles have arranged their bookshelves. By color was just one of these, and probably the most sane. Sure is pretty, though.
As for the question of being able to find a given book: well, duh, you just know. You put it there, and if no one else has moved it, it’s still there, right? So you just access your mental three-dimensional map of space and recall the location, walk up to it, and take the book.
…Or is that just me?
