Well, it doesn’t jump out at me, but with your detailed description, I can see it.

I’m sure the advertisers would be glad to know that someone is looking at their ad (and now has a bunch of other people really studying the ad). Funny the way our minds work when we’re sitting in the dentist’s office.

BUT, I just realized that after going back and studying that photo at least 1/2 dozen times, I still couldn’t tell you if they’re advertising a brand or if it’s just meat they’re pushing (and if so, where’s the cheeseburger?). Of course, now I’m going back to the photo one more time. And then I’m going to grill up a steak with some mushrooms ….

You know, Chris, when I first saw the ad you pointed out–a number of months ago, I think–I thought something was odd about it but couldn’t figure it out. This one, though, just…sprang right out at me. Good spotting on that other one, though. :)

Jess, I actually have had a few people tell me they didn’t see the phallic symbol in that ad. I don’t see how, though!

Chris: Yeah, no way I can believe that it wasn’t all deliberate. I mean…man. Someone on LJ pointed out the bell pepper on the girl’s plate, which I hadn’t even noticed, and of course the looped sausage is more…feminine in nature….

That’s pretty impressive. The worst part of it is that the grill was almost certainly Photoshopped in; the poor woman doesn’t even know what she’s doing with those tongs. (And since the grill was probably Photoshopped in, the designer almost certainly put it there, and in that orientation, deliberately - perhaps not seeing the phallic connotation, but still…)

I have to confess, when I think of suggestive ads, this is still the one that comes to mind immediately…
