As we get closer to the election, all, I’d like to provide a link that has the stories of some families without medical insurance. I really urge you to take a look at it.
I listened to McCain say in the debates that he’d make sure each family (the entire family, not each individual) had [...]
For my money, Obama clearly won on the economic front: McCain was talking about cutting back on pork (which we already know to him means such “foolishness” as planetariums) to save (comparatively) small amounts, while Obama intends to gain much larger amounts of money through closing loopholes and raising taxes on the richest and the [...]
Am I the only one, watching the debates, who thinks that John McCain has gone way overboard on Botox treatments? Damn…
ETA: Look at the forehead wrinkles here. I don’t know how old that photo is, but you sure didn’t see those during the debate. (And yes, I know about the scarring on his face from [...]
I don’t think I’ve mentioned yet that I have a Facebook profile; feel free to friend me there if you’d like.
I also just signed up for Twitter and am trying it out.
Those fill an interesting niche in that I often don’t think whatever little thing I’m doing is worth a blog post but don’t mind [...]
If any of you haven’t seen this CNN video on stretches to do at your desk, I highly recommend it. The shoulder stretch is particularly wonderful for those of us at a keyboard all day.
Via Laura Anne Gilman and Ellen Datlow, here’s word on some slimy tactics being perpetrated in the swing states.
Check your registration, everyone, and be careful to check for everything required if you’re doing an absentee ballot.
I got a gorgeous , corset-tie, high-slit, rainbow-colored dress on sale unbelievably cheap the other day and have nowhere to wear it. Still, it was pretty enough that I didn’t pass it up. (Though perhaps I would have if my daughter hadn’t insisted I couldn’t–I think she’s hoping it stays in fashion long enough for [...]
One of the hits coming into my blog today was “How much does copyeditors get paid?”
Not enough, sweetheart. Not enough.
I surrendered to temptation today and bought one of the new iPhones. (Yes, I’m a weak-willed technogeek.) In the interests of evading buyer’s remorse (which, I have to note with surprise, has not even peeked around the corner at me yet), I plan install some useful applications–it looks like the iPhone has plenty. Do any [...]
I look at all the news sites–even Fox, though I hate them–because I like to see how all the sides are presented.
Fox is so dumb, though. If you’re looking right now, be sure to go to the main site. They have this lovely headline “Slained for Seeking Annulment.” It’ll probably be fixed soon.
Slained! Killeded!
ETA: Aw. [...]

About
I'm a freelance copyeditor specializing in fantasy and science fiction. SF/F novels I have copyedited have been finalists for (and have sometimes won) the Hugo, Nebula, Arthur C. Clarke, Endeavour, Golden Spur, John W. Campbell Memorial, Quill, Locus, Philip K. Dick, British Science Fiction, British Fantasy, and World Fantasy awards. In 2007 I became the first and only copyeditor ever short-listed for a World Fantasy Award.
