2009 Novel and Short Story Writer’s Market?
1 Comment Published by Deanna Hoak November 2nd, 2008 in blogSo I do occasionally search for myself on Google, because I’m always interested in the links I might have missed. This last time, a nifty page from Amazon popped up, showing some of the books in which I know I’m mentioned.
I knew about most of them, but I have to ask: Do any of you know how I’m mentioned in the 2009 Novel & Short Story Writer’s Market? There’s no “Search Inside” feature, and I am of course curious. :)
ETA: Ah. John Joseph Adams was kind enough to include me in his “Blogs Writers Should Be Reading” article for that book. Thanks, John!

I'm a freelance copyeditor specializing in fantasy and science fiction. SF/F novels I have copyedited have been finalists for (and have sometimes won) the Hugo, Nebula, Arthur C. Clarke, Endeavour, Golden Spur, John W. Campbell Memorial, Quill, Locus, Philip K. Dick, British Science Fiction, British Fantasy, and World Fantasy awards. In 2007 I became the first and only copyeditor ever short-listed for a World Fantasy Award.

Hi Deanna,
I’m a Chicago grad student who just bought that edition of Writer’s Market and found you thanks to JJ Adams. In case you’re curious, here’s exactly what he said:
“Written by a professional copyeditor specializing in science fiction and fantasy, this personal blog often covers subjects other than writing and editing. But if you’re looking for some insight into the copyediting process, look no further.”
Nice blog; I’m the Editor-In-Chief of a small university lit mag, and a speculative fiction writer to boot, so I’ll be keeping my eye on your blog. Thanks!
