Robotic exoskeletons

I had read about these exoskeletons before, but I hadn’t seen a video of them in action and assumed they were much more unwieldy than they look here. I’ve read so many novels where such armor was imagined. Amazing.

  1. The weird thing is, I did a report on these back in Junior High (mid-70s). They were being developed by GM for use in their factories.

Back then, of course, they didn’t have the computer-aided motion (which I believe was actually first developed for prosthetic limbs) in the joints, making them unwieldly and prone to tipping over. Imagine my surprise when I saw marines using GM-style exoskeletons in “Aliens”. I actually jumped up and down and squealed.

The new ones, however, are much more compact and mobile, which is a vast improvement! Thanks for posting the video. ;o)
